Tree of Temptation
Den of Temptation
Summary: The season premiered on June 28, 2017 on CBS in the United States with a two-hour season premiere and Julie Chen returning as host. The season was titled "Summer of Temptation" with the various contestants able to receive a temptation which gave the taker a surprise reward or game advantage but also unleashed a game change for one or more other players. On September 20, 2017, Josh Martinez won the game in a 5–4 vote against returning Big Brother 18 runner-up Paul Abrahamian, earning the latter the distinction of first person to lose a Final 2 jury vote twice.
DAY 1 - DAY 37
Similar to the cliques twist in Big Brother 11, the HouseGuests initially competed in teams, which were selected by school-yard pick before the first competition. When a HouseGuest wins Head of Household, their entire team earns immunity from nominations, while the team with the worst performance in each Head of Household competition became the Have-Nots for the week.
DAY 1 - DAY 37
For each Roadkill competition, an RV is placed in the backyard; one at a time, HouseGuests enter the RV to complete the task. Following the competition, the HouseGuests are privately informed if they won or lost the challenge, with no obligation to ever reveal their result; the winner then names a third nominee in the Diary Room. Unlike the Head of Household, the Roadkill winner could nominate a member of his or her own team, provided their intended nominee is not immune. If the Roadkill nominee is saved by the Power of Veto, the Roadkill winner has to privately name a replacement nominee.
DAY 37 - DAY 65
A phone booth upstairs led to a secret room if a HouseGuest could crack the code to get into it. One of the 12 envelopes found there held a Round Trip Ticket; the person who unknowingly claimed this ticket would be able to return to the house if they were evicted.
Week 1 - Week 5
The first two evicted HouseGuests, Glenn Garcia and Jozea Flores, faced off in the first competition, which Jozea won. Jozea then faced Victor Arroyo, the third evicted HouseGuest, in the second competition, which Victor won. Victor then faced Bronte D'Acquisto, the fourth evicted HouseGuest, in the third competition, which Victor won. Finally, Victor faced Tiffany Rousso, the fifth evicted HouseGuest, in the fourth and final competition. Victor won and re-entered the house.
Following Victor's eviction, the jurors battled to re-enter the house and for Head of Household along with the four other competing HouseGuests in the "Welcome to Loch Mess" Head of Household competition. After outlasting the other four jurors, Victor returned to the game for the second time this summer. After fighting for over two hours in a battle of endurance, Nicole became the new Head of Household for the second time this summer.
Week 6 - Week 10
During these five weeks, beginning in Week 6, viewers would be able to give one HouseGuest per week a special power—or "care package"—as determined by a public vote. All five powers were revealed to the public upon the twist's introduction. The HouseGuests were made aware of this twist, though the weekly rewards were left unspecified until the package was dropped in the backyard for public unboxing. Once a HouseGuest receives a care package, they are no longer eligible to win future packages.
